April 2019
Thank you for visiting my blog! Let me tell you a little about myself. I just turned 40 this year (YIKES!), and I currently reside in northeat Alabama with the boyfriend, Alex (together since 2003), and our 5 cats! This is our second house together, having just moved here in July 2019. We lived in our first home together for 10 years. We’re both fortunate enough to be our own bosses and work from home doing a variety of things including photography/videography.
I would love to blog more than I do, but I stay fairly busy, so I post when I can. My goal is to post about all the projects I intend to do here at the new house. I would also like to share any successes (or failures) I have with crafting projects, recipes I come across, and other DIY projects I attempt around the house.
I love to cook, so much so that I went to culinary school and graduated in 2009 with 2 Associate’s degrees: one in baking and confectionery arts and the other for regular culinary arts. I have a soft spot for sweets, a sinful indulgence my stomach and hips are paying for. Thankfully, I am not as bad with desserts and sweets as I used to be. I am trying to incorporate what I’ve learned into my everyday cooking to make tasty, healthier meals.
I also love to read (especially Sue Grafton‘s alphabet series & Janet Evanovich‘s Stephanie Plum series) and tend to my flowers and garden (visit my other website, Southern Gardener for more detailed gardening posts). I enjoy listening to music, and over the past 12 years, my musical tastes have diversified. I’m still not a fan of country music though, so not all of us in the south listen to it. 😆
In October 2016, I became a certified Zumba instructor and taught Zumba at the local YMCA from May 2017 to July 2019 (when we moved an hour away). At the moment, I’m taking time off from Zumba to let my shin bone stress fracture heal. Once it’s healed completely, I will try to find a place around here to hopefully teach. If I can’t find a place to teach, I will find a class to attend since Zumba is my preferred method of exercise.
Horseback riding and the beach are two of my favorite things I don’t get to do often since I am 5½ hours from the beach, and I don’t own a horse. I also love woodworking and building things, though I’m not as good at it as I’d like to be.
I hope you enjoy looking through the posts I share here on my blog, and I would love to hear from you!
