We are now the crazy cat people. We have 7 cats. Seven. There are 5 inside, and now these two feral cats are officially ours because they have been named. Alex and I spent at least an hour yesterday trying to figure out names for these two.
Look at those beautiful blue eyes!!
We still don’t know if they are male or female. While they are sticking around more and not running off as much, we still cannot touch them. So we opted for gender-neutral names.
Meet Valiente.
Well, Alex wanted to give them each 2 names, so its full name is actually “Príncipe Valiente.” Príncipe is Spanish for ‘prince,’ so if he turns out to be a she, it will have to be “Princesa Valiente.” Valiente is Spanish for ‘brave,’ as we were always referring to this one as ‘the brave one’ because he took way less time to warm up to us and approach the food bowl when I would feed them. I’ll just refer to him {or her} as Valiente. In Spanish, the V is pronounced as a B, but we are pronouncing his name with a V sound.
Meet Zari.
Its full name is “Camada Zari.” Camada is actually Spanish for ‘litter,” and Zari is a spinoff of the Romanian word a zari, which means ‘to catch site of,’ since he was referred to as ‘the more skittish one.’ He was always the first to dart off when we would see both of them. So we settled on Zari, and we don’t pronounce it anything like the Romanian pronunciation. We say it as “Zar-e.”
This video below was recorded on August 14th. I am so close to the food bowl while they eat! So much progress!
