Thank you for visiting my blog! I’m a 38-year-old female residing in Birmingham, Alabama with my boyfriend of 14 years, Alex, and our 5 cats: Marble, Jasmine, Targét, Oxford, and Bailey. We are both fortunate enough to work from home, doing video and photography work, along with basic, simple web design.
I would love to blog more than I do, but I stay fairly busy, so I post when I can. I like to share any successes (or failures) I have with crafting projects and recipes I come across on Pinterest as well as DIY projects I attempt around the house.
I love to cook, so much so that I went to culinary school and graduated in 2009 with 2 Associate’s degrees: one in baking and confectionery arts and the other for regular culinary arts. I have a soft spot for sweets, a sinful indulgence my stomach and hips are paying for. Thankfully, I am not as bad with desserts and sweets as I used to be. I am trying to incorporate what I’ve learned into my everyday cooking to make tasty, healthier meals.
I also love to read (especially Sue Grafton’s alphabet series & Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series) and tend to my flowers and garden (visit my other website, Southern Gardener for more details gardening posts). I enjoy listening to music, and over the past 12 years, my musical tastes have diversified. I’m still not a fan of country music though, so not all of us in the south listen to it. Hard rock was my first love, back in the late 90’s, and it used to be the only type of music I would listen to. When I started going to the gym in 2009, I began to like a lot of the pop songs from top 40 music because I would hear them during our aerobic workouts twice a week.
My absolute favorite band right now is Three Days Grace! I also like bands ranging from Disturbed, Linkin Park, Nickelback, Shinedown, and Theory of a Deadman to Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Brittney Spears, Pitbull, The Pussycat Dolls, & LMFAO. I also have a lot of the zumba fitness songs on my phone, along with many, many Christmas songs. Classical music is also great, but I prefer classical music with no singing.
Speaking of Zumba, in October 2016, I became a certified Zumba instructor and currently teach once a week at a local YMCA. I also substitute for my current class I attend twice a week as a student when the instructor needs me. Zumba is really the only exercise I do each week, aside from yard work, but it has made a world of difference in my figure over the past year!
Horseback riding and the beach are two of my favorite things I don’t get to do often since I am 6 hours from the beach, and I don’t own a horse. I also love woodworking and building things, but I still have a lot to learn.
I hope you enjoy looking through the posts I share here on my blog, and I would love to hear from you!
