Since I didn’t go to the gym Wednesday, Thursday, or yesterday, I decided to get out and get a little yard work done. And yes, I counted calories using my heart rate monitor. Which, by the way, I burned 664 calories in an hour and 46 minutes. Not too shabby. I took a few pictures of some of the work I did; some of it wasn’t picture worthy. LOL I mainly post pictures of my yard work and gardening here as a record of how things are going (especially with my patio garden).
First of all, I had to get rid of my poor cucumber plant. 🙁 I have no idea why it did so terrible this year, but it did. I haven’t gotten the first decent cucumber off the plant. At one point, it did look nice and healthy.
And the cucumbers that were forming were splitting open and growing in a deformed manner.
I put down some red mulch in front of the living room windows, filled up my hummingbird feeder, and finally put up my squirrel-proof bird feeder. Now the squirrel can’t get into it!
I wish I’d taken a “before” picture for the one below, but I forgot. In front of the holly bush, there were 2 HUGE zucchini plants, but I finally pulled them up and got rid of them. I have yet to even see one zucchini grow on the plant. It looked REALLY healthy, with nice big leaves on it – but it was taking up space and not producing any vegetables. I will put one of the hibiscus plants I started from seeds in the empty space in front. I also moved the bird feeder pole that used to be in front of the office window to here. The first time I see a squirrel on this one, I will get rid of this feeder and replace it with a hummingbird feeder more than likely. I am not feeding the squirrels.
I also had to trim back my herbs. My dill is gone now, but everything else is looking really good.
I didn’t do anything to these pepper plants. I just wanted to share a picture and show how well they’re doing. I need to go out today and pick off the ready-to-eat banana peppers. The 2 front plants are banana peppers (with 2 green bell pepper plants in the same pot). The back pot is 2 green bell pepper plants with a red bell pepper plant, though I have yet to have one turn red.
And here is my tomato plant… those tomatoes are pretty much the biggest size I am getting, which is rather disappointing. 🙁 I was really looking forward to fresh cucumbers and tomatoes this summer. Lowe’s doesn’t even have vegetable plants for sell anymore. Boo. My jalapeno plant in front of the tomato plant is only in the process of producing the 2nd jalapeno of this season. What the heck? They’ve gotten plenty of rain this year, and I fertilize them.
